CPR/AED First Aid Program

CVCC is pleased to offer Heartsaver CPR/AED and First Aid training with an American Heart Association Certified (AHA) Trainer.

 

Heartsaver CPR/AED and First Aid are two separate introductory training courses.  Applicants can take one or both three hour courses that lead to AHA Certification(s).  Classes are limited to six people, so find five friends and get your group registered!

 

Classes can take place on Mondays or Wednesdays with a start time of 3:30 or 4:00 and will occur at Central Vermont Career Center in Barre, VT.

 

The cost is $60.00 per person, $360.00 for the group of six. Initially, groups of six will be given scheduling priority.

Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)


The Vermont EMS District 6/8 Spring 2026 course begins January 12 and will prepare students to deliver essential, lifesaving care for patients of all ages with a variety of medical conditions and traumatic injuries. Areas of study include an introduction to emergency medical services systems, roles, and responsibilities of EMTs, anatomy, and physiology, medical emergencies, trauma, special considerations for working in the pre-hospital setting, and providing patient transportation. The course is meant for both those students that are new to Emergency Medical Services (EMS) systems and those that have obtained EMR licensure or Vermont VEFR certification. EMT is the primary licensure for any EMS transport service. Graduates are prepared to test for National Registry EMT licensure and begin serving their communities as certified Emergency Medical Technicians.

  • January 12-April 24, 2026
  • Mondays & Thursdays, 6PM-10PM
  • Every other Sunday starting in February
  • Expected licensure exam date: 4/17/2026
  • Location for Norwich Students: In-person at Mack Hall
  • Location for others: Zoom access for lectures, in-person at Norwich for skills session
 
Cost:
  • District 6/8 Students: $250
  • Norwich University Students: $250
  • All others: $1750
 
Course Prerequisites:
All candidates shall complete the following to participate in this course:
• Participate in patient care, skills, and scenarios.
• Have and maintain a current AHA Healthcare Provider CPR certification.
• Have completed these online trainings prior to the start of the EMS course: ICS 100, ICS 200, & NIMS 700 training. https://training.fema.gov/nims/
